On July 16, 2021, Loomian Legacy YouTuber Pokenova announces on his twitter account with the following tweet saying:
"I literally got banned on roblox for saying the word "gay" in roblox chat. WHAT. @Roblox I was streaming live when this happened, I got banned for harassment. HARRASMENT. How is saying the word "gay" with no context HARRASMENT. Im FUMING."
Before PokeNova tweeted out this tweet, he was livestreaming on YouTube. At 58:35 of his livestream, PokeNova said “gay” 2 times in the Roblox Chat as an attempt to test if Roblox would censor, or hashtag the message since Roblox Moderation has been seen banning Roblox Members after saying gay. At first the messages wasn’t tagged until some seconds later where Roblox Moderation decided to tag the messages.
1 Hour Later while PokeNova was streaming, a Roblox pop-up message claimed that his account had launched another experience (aka game) from another device.
This was Roblox’s way of kicking him from the game so that he would be logged out to see a message saying he has been banned from Roblox for 7 days. The Roblox Moderator claimed that his messages were harassment messages, and therefore he was banned for 1 week.
Sometime later PokeNova wrote a tweet saying “I got banned.” and soon after he posted the tweet from the beginning explaining how he was unfairly banned from saying the word gay. After this, multiple people replied to his tweet saying: “That’s rough Roblox moderation has gotten worse and worse over the past year.” Other replied, and tweeted #FREEPOKENOVA as a way to spread the news, and awareness to Roblox and to get PokeNova unbanned.
